Masking Effect
For this effect we first had to film two separate clips, the first included two people on on side of the camera having a conversation. The next clip one of the two walked into the scene and sat down on the opposite side of the camera. It was essential for her to sit down on the opposite side to ensure that when the effect was added there would be two of the same person instead of just the one walking in and sitting on herself.
After the clips were filmed they had to be imported into premiere pro and to ensure the effect worked the clip where she entered on her own had to be placed in video two and the other clip of both people having a conversation should be placed in video 1.
When both clips are lined up on the timeline, in the bottom left hand corner click on the effects tab and in video transition drag the transition linear wipe onto video 2.
At the top of the page click of the effect controls tab and in liner wipe should be listed under video effects. Then underneath linear wipe it says transitions which has a percentage next to it, with the mouse click on the percentage and slide it left/right and on the right hand screen a line should appear moving across the clip as you alter the percentage. This is the effect taking place and removing the part of video 2 that is not needed. In order to make the clip look 'believable' make sure that the line is not visible in the clip so its best to move the percentage until the line is in a place where the lighting is similar and everything in both clips is lined up. Otherwise it may end up lookin like mine has because it was difficult to line up the computers and desks in both clips exactly.
